Smokin Bijou Bug
SMOKIN BIJOU
BUG, GRULLO STALLION by a DOUBLE BRED MUSIC MOUNT STALLION out
of a THREE BARS BRED MARE
Music Mount
Bred Grullo Stallion in Western Colorado
"SJ" was
foaled April 8, 2002 out of a Three Bars bred mare by a Music
Mount bred stallion. His striking grullo color was only
one of his outstanding traits that allowed him to be considered
as a breeding stallion. Grullo is the spanish word for
silver. A metal is considered precious if it is rare.
Grullo is the rarest of colors in the Quarter Horse breed.
The most important quality of a breeding stallioni s his ability
to pass on his traits to hisprogeny. With regard to his
precious grullo color, SJ has provenhimself. To date, he
has had three foal crops. Out of each crop he has produced
for us one foal of grullo color.
Foundation
Quarter Horse Pedigree
SJ is triple
registered. He is recognized in the AQHA (American Quarter
Horse Association), the IBHA (International Buckskin Horse
Association), and the FQHA (Foundation Quarter Horse
Association). SJ's Foundation registration indicates
93.75% foundation bloodlines. His ancestry is steeped in
foundation champions. On the top side of his pedigree he is
double Music Mount bred. On the bottom side, his dam is a
agreat-granddaughter of the legendary Three Bars. A roster
of royalty in his pedigree includes: Diamond Sparkle, Gold
Mount, Cookie Mount, Pansy, Oklahoma Star, Lady Bug Leo, Beau
Bonanza, Brush Moore, and Bert. His sire is a Central
Colorado cow horse known as Scoot Bug. The cowboys
familiar with him say "a wild cow can't loose a Bug in the
brush."
Other
important traits of a breedng stallion
Color and
pedigree are of importance in a stallionprospect, but so are
conformation and disposition. We believe that disposition
and trainability are of primary importance. He can look
real pretty and be put together for athletic ability, but if his
mind isn't willing to partner with you, of what benefit are
those other things? SJ has it all. Color and
pedigree, superb conformation, a pretty head, solid feet, and a
kind and willing disposition. He has proven to be
trainable and accepts new things easily. Before he was
given the privilege to breed, he had to prove himself in this
aera. He ahs been ridden bareback while ponying another
horse. He has had dogs riding across his withers. He
did this as a two-year-old in the beginning of his under saddle
career. He was extensively trail ridden and used on cattle
drives as a two, three, and four-year-old. In 2006 he
started his breeding career. Two days after breeding his
last mare of that season he was shown in the IBHA World Show
held in Denver, Colorado. He not only placed 4th in his
halter class and cutting class, but he behaved as a perfect
gentleman during the 10 days he was there. He couldn't be
prouder of him.
